Phi Brain Anime Review

Phi Brain is a very particular anime since it's story is about a super-intelligent boy who is forced to solve puzzles to stay alive and to discover what really happened to his parents. Then they had to add some weird stuff about magic too, but I didn't understand much of that. Anyways, note that the anime is about puzzle solving. I mean puzzle. solving. Seriously. And it's actually good for it's strange genre. The anime's story is, as I said before, a little messed up, but the anime's quality is good and it is in definitive quite nice. The characters are very likeable and the music fits well too.

If you like reasoning anime that are a little less about action and a bit more about reasoning, then you will like it. However, the anime quickly bored me with a repetitive style of episodes and I eventually stopped watching it.

Even so, I give this anime a final rating of 6.5/10,

because it isn't fundamentally bad.

Shingeki No Kyojin / Attack On Titan Anime Review

Attack on Titan is a bloody action anime that relates the story of humankind as it is forced to retreat in a fortress after human-eating Titans appear on the planet. The whole anime is about the search of the truth behind the existence of the titans. Needless to say the anime's story line is gold compared to what other anime have to offer (still thinking about Gintama)

The fighting scenes are excellent and the anime really has new things to offer like the combat style which I particularly love.

There is no comedy in this anime, so don't choose it if you want to have a laugh. The beginning may seem a bit sudden but it settles down after the third or fourth episode and things start to become more interesting. It's a bit of a waste to use a time skip in the first ten episodes and that it's definitely not used well given nearly nothing changes in the main characters.
I can also say that even though its a great action anime, this anime's storyline lacks a bit of complexity, there is no political plot, even though, it could have been great to have, though the mystery still remains as to the main character's identity.

With a final rating of 7.5/10, this anime is a great action anime.

Gintama Anime Review

Gintama is a well known comedy anime. It relates the story of a samurai named Gintama (what a surprise) who lives in an Edo where the world was invaded by aliens and struggles in everyday life to get enough money to pay his rent. I can already see the epicness of the scenario, but anyways.

Now this anime is supposed to be funny -emphasis on the "supposed"- because this anime simply does not make me laugh. Perhaps I'm not mature enough. Perhaps I'm too mature, but these jokes are far from funny in any way. I understand a lot of people love this show which leaves that question in my head: Why?

I have grinded through more than a hundred episodes of this and I have yet to laugh (well maybe I did laugh once or twice but the point is that it's a pretty low ratio).

There is very few action and I think the thing that annoys me the most in this anime is the fact that there is NO STORYLINE whatsoever. What kind of anime has completely separate episodes without a hint of story between them. It just makes me hate it even more.

The final verdict is a 5/10

This anime is really on the margin of passable. It does however have likeable characters... Who am I kidding??? the characters in this anime are more hateable than likeable. I' m stuck between the main character who acts like an idiot except when he's needed (then he suddenly becomes mature. I mean come on what's the point, can't he be mature all the time?), the cry baby girl who's as strong as an ogre, and the useless pervy retard who is (like many retarded people) in love with a celebrity.

Kingdom Anime Review

Kingdom is easily one of my favourite anime, unfortunately, it received a lot of negative views due to it's
strange 3D animations... Which is understandable, because even I was taken aback by this fact, but you know, this nearly isn't visible anymore, so either they corrected it or I got used to it (Im thinking the first option). The anime is set in the Warring States Period in China where Zhen, king of the kingdom of Qin, will strive to unite all of china under his rule.

So, as I was saying, in the first episodes, the anime's art and animation is... strange... It however gets corrected later on but there are once again some things that I will not forgive in an anime, for example the fact that they re-use action scenes multiple times.

The plot is based on true historical events, so imagine a bit of a war/strategy plot, with alliances formed, broken, assassins, and huge scale battles that any action anime fan will love.

Final Rating: 7/10

Mushibugyou Anime Review

Mushibugyou or Mushibugyo is a basic action anime that classes just above average in my anime ratings.

It relates the story of a young samurai who fights off waves of giant insects who have invaded the world in which he lives in to protect the city of Edo.

The action scenes are fine and well made even though there is one thing that annoys me, it is that the main character always uses some kind of catch phrase each time he hits something with his sword.

The anime starts off very slowly with a plot that seems completely uninteresting, it however catches up to my expectations by adding in a little romance and upgrading the plot level a bit even though it doesn't get very far in complexity.

The soundtrack is fine, the anime's animation is as well, it lacks a bit in comedy and in emotion and definitely lacks -even though there has been some progress since the first episodes- in storyline complexity.

Final rating: 6.5/10

With a little more effort on the story, this anime could be great due to it's likeable characters.

Hakkenden: Touhou Hakken Ibun Anime Review

Hakkenden: Touhou Hakken Ibun also known as Hakkenden: Eight Dogs of the East is an action/adventure anime that relates the story of a boy who holds the power of Murasame, some kind of Arch Demon, who journeys to save his brother from himself whilst he reunites (without being aware of it) the beads left by the previous goddess who saved the planet (congrats if you understood that).
The art is good, the fighting scenes are ok as well, and in general, this anime can be classed above average.
The Emotional setting is well made with sometimes very well thought and prepared usage of soundtracks. The story line started a bit slow, but now that the second season has started, it has gains momentum.
There isn't much more to say I'm afraid, this anime just isn't anything exceptional without being bad in any way.

Final Rating: 6.5 / 10

For such a short anime, they could have made it a bit more interesting.

Top 10 anime streaming Websites

I have decided that, due to the lack of guidance in that area, a top 10 for anime streaming websites needed to be made. And here it is... Have fun and choose wisely ;)

In Tenth position,

Anime FTW must be the first anime site I have seen with an actual store... a store. Out of curiosity, I decided to go and visit to find out what they could be selling on an anime site... And it appears they resell keyboards and mouses and also have T shirts with their logo... and ... Chopsticks. Seriously?
Anyway the streaming part of the site itself is pretty weird and unconventional. It really isn't simple to use and it only covers a few anime.

In Ninth position

If I were to say something about Anime Box  it would be that it is way too big, the recently added section, which is for me the most important one, takes up ALL the space on the website even exceeding the limits of my screen and forcing me to use a side scrolling bar. The interface is square and lacking on the anime side of things I mean, they could have changed some fonts from the base one, changed color from plain white to something a little more... I don't know, special I guess...

In Eighth position

The Anime Get site is once again too blocky with it's ads sticking out really obviously. the atmosphere isn't at all what I would expect of an anime site.

In Seventh position

Anime Sub is pretty nice. And all the charm and effort that was put to make the latest anime section has been lost in all the rest of the site. I mean, yes, the latest added section is by far the mot important, but this anime streaming website is nearly on the same level as Anime Box.

In Sixth position

In terms of usefulness, I must admit that IAnime is a bit of a mixed appreciation. It may be a mobile friendly website or whatever, but I'm not judging it on that... It just seems like more of a blog on anime that an anime watching website, there is a recently added section but it only extends to 5 episodes, I will however congratulate them for actually giving details like the name of the episode itself directly on that list.

In Fith position

I won't lie to you, Anime Ram is an advert heavy anime website, and if there is one thing that annoys me a lot, it is that they did not add an image corresponding to each anime so in the "latest" tab you will only have names of the anime. When, like me, you watch 5 or 6 anime at the same time, who all air on different days, and aren't sure about which anime has that particular name and given the name an anime will have isn't always the same due to it sometimes being (half) translated in English and the other time full Japanese, it can be pretty chaotic just to find one.

In Fourth position

The Anime Freak website looks much more fun and amusing than the other anime websites but it really lacks organisation given it tried to mix up manga and anime, which I find stupid, beacause you might as well make two different sites instead of forcing people who want solely to watch anime to have the whole main page and half the tabs taken by the manga part of the website.

In Third position

The Anime Here Website, well first of all, it gets my award for the best placed ads on a site, they fit sooo well with the anime theme and are so well placed, you actually believe they are a part of the website.

In Second position

The people at Anime Seed really understood what it meant to make an anime site, and they really did make a good one, with a gorgeous -cute would be a more appropriate term- interface, it really is nice to use. However this website also lacks the images on the latest section and I won't forgive this that easily...
I will also congratulate this site for the most lively anime streaming site, with competitions, over 200 people in the chatango room, and an acual website radio, which I found quite nice.
This record is a bit tarnished by the oppressing presence of ads, it's a shame really.

And in first position

Anime Rush is by far the best anime streaming website, because what can beat an ad-free website with a beautiful design and a latest anime system that was made for people like me. It's not very well known because it's brand new but if any of you used Anime Crazy before, let's just say there's a thick connection between the main staff of both websites. It clearly deserves it's first place among the anime websites. Ironically, Anime Crazy would only have gotten to second or third position. They even have a timer that shows when new episodes come out. (and that is something that seems to be missing from a lot of anime websites)

One Piece Anime Review

One piece is a very interesting anime/manga. Weirdly enough, it is also the anime/manga that most people know (with Naruto, and even Bleach a bit further behind) but unlike Naruto, which is treated as “for small children”, One Piece isn’t that much criticised. Sadly though, the story isn’t all THAT great. So the manga is about a brainless boy named luffy who sets out on an adventure to find One Piece (Hence the name) -a legendary treasure left by the previous pirate king- and to become pirate king himself. The story is composed of arcs, each of different lengths depending on the importance of the story (like all manga). Unfortunately, after 600 episodes, the anime starts to deteriorate and the writer started to come up with completely stupid ideas… for example, now when you watch an episode, you see some kind of transvestite gay dancing on a platform with drunk pirates looking at him as if he brought with him some kind of revelation… This is the moment when you say W.T.F. I mean, it’s only normal that after that much episodes, the story starts getting… weird. Look at Naruto, when you see it now, the story resumes to this: a good guy’s best friend who was supposed to be killed 20 years ago is actually the bad guy that’s been behind half the plotting and is now trying to turn all the inhabitants of ninja planet in walking veggies. Seriously? Anyways, One Piece has extended it’s life span and I think it’s time for it to go before it becomes completely ridiculous. Note that there are also serious likelihood problems: Luffy has special powers because he ate a RARE fruit. So why the hell is it that half the people he encounters ate fruits too? Also, depending on the episodes, his arm won’t be able to stretch as long, sometimes it’s only 2 or 3 meters, sometimes it’s up to 3 kilometres…

Art: 7/10 

OST: 8/10 (anime's original soundtrack) 

Storyline: 6/10

Emotionnal setting (is it gonna make you cry or laugh): 6/10 

Overall mark: 7/10

I recommend this to people who don’t know all the other good anime out there and want to embark on a journey they're -nearly- sure will never end.

Fairy Tail Anime Review

Fairy Tail is a manga written by Hiro Mashina (not that you know him) that relates the adventures of a magic guild (called Fairy Tail -.-') –an association of people who work together using magic powers to accomplish jobs- as they journey through sub plots in the story line… Most of them are: “it’s the end of the world if FairyTail doesn’t help” but there are also some fights between guilds and the “main” plot is the search of the lost dragons. The manga is fitted with hilarious scenes, sad moments and (mostly) a lot of good action which makes FairyTail one of the classics in action manga (alongside the famously hated Naruto and One Piece). It has been adapted in an anime (which isn’t half bad).

Rating:

Emotional Setting: 9/10

-Very few anime made me cry, Fairy Tail is one of them.

-Good sense of humor, and similarly to Naruto, the first chapters are much more focused on making you laugh than actually developing the plot.

Storyline: 6/10 

-The arcs aren't too long or too short but it doesn't stray too much from our expectations, so try to do something a bit more unexpected instead of following the same story path over and over again.

-Only two anime so far have completely messed up their "skip to the future" part, Bleach and Fairy Tail. In Fairy Tail's case, what they did was truly unbelievable, because the main characters couldn't change for 7 years, everything around them has changed, but they haven't. Which is exactly the opposite of what is supposed to happen after time jumps. It then tried to catch up by quickly changing the main character's clothes, but the main problem is that they're supposed to have had some kind of training for 7 years, but because they were immobilized, they couldn't train at all, so the writer realized that he'd made a mistake and made them train for a few days...-yes, to catch up 7 years-

-They also had the opportunity to change the villains a bit, but instead they re-used the same villains as before the 7 year gap. Thank you originality.

Art: 8/10 

-nothing to say, impeccable, smooth drawings and cool characters

O.S.T. : 9/10 

-note that it's the same guy that does Naruto's O.S.T., so expect good music.

Final rating: 8/10

I recommend this anime to people who love good old action anime with special powers and magic.

Stein's Gate Anime Review

Stein's Gate has, without a doubt, one of the best time travel stories. I mean anyway, what can you compare it to? Men In Black III? That movie has so much plain impossible parts that it doesn't hold a candle to Stein's  Gate. The anime isn't very long, but, once again, what matters is quality and not quantity. So you have a bit more than 20 episodes of pure epicness. Prepare to be amazed, not because this anime has particularly exceptional fighting scenes, but because this anime is just ...... *can't find words to describe*.

Also includes some pretty funny scenes (but he's a boy)

I recommend this anime to all those people who, like me, believe that a good anime isn't a 600 episode long one, but a short one that makes you beg for more.

Storyline: 9/10

-Well, I think they could have done a better job on that but it's still good.

Emotional setting: 7/10

-it did make me laugh, however, the anime's objective is clearly not to make you laugh or cry, it's just to wow you with the story, so I think this part is a bit left out.

O.S.T.: 7/10

-Not much to say on this, only that it's not awful, but that it's not superb either, it's just music that comes and goes.

Overall: 8.5/10

If you want to watch Stein's gate, do not stop after the first 10 episodes, it's one of those  "everything cool happens at the end" animes.
